About Us

Welcome to Blackrock Medical Practice

COVID 19

Please telephone the practice if you wish to make an appointment. We will then decide whether this should proceed as a telephone consultation or ask you to come down to the surgery.

For those that do need to attend please be reassured all patients are screened prior to arriving for symptoms of COVID 19 and rooms are cleaned after each patient attendance.

We wish to reassure patients we are running a near complete service and want to be informed of any medical problems you may have, please do not ignore symptoms nor feel we are too busy to deal with such issues. There remain plenty of problems to be dealt with outside of COVID 19.

Please visit https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html for the most updated guidance on Covid -19 and useful patient information leaflets on self isolation and quarantine.

COVID 19 VACCINE PROGRAMME

We have begun the COVID vaccination programme

PHASE 1 (over 70s)

As of April 1st:

Age 85 and over: Both doses given

Aged 80-85: Dose 1 given (dose 2 starting April 10th)

Aged 75-80: Dose 1 given (dose 2 starting April 24th)

Aged 70-75: Dose 1 starting April 11th.

We get a delivery of Pfizer vaccine on a Friday every 2 weeks, this is then administered on Saturday/Monday and Tuesday. The number we vaccinate is dependant on the supply we are apportioned (this is going to be less than we need for the dose 1 of the 70-75 cohort unfortunately) and the number of doses we get per vial (at times we obtain a 7th dose largely determined by the type of syringe the HSE supplies us with)

We are proactively contacting those we will be vaccinating- you will receive a text to book in on our online system. You may receive a call if we do not have a mobile number for you or if we have extra doses that become available at short notice.

PHASE 2:

Category 4a (very high risk) and Category 7 (high risk)

We have been asked to partake in this campaign by the HSE and we will be signing up to give the Astra Zeneca vaccine to these groups.

The HSE continue to refine the groups they want us to target. The HSE and Government have published a breakdown of these groups online.

We aim to commence this campaign upon delivery of this vaccine which we hope to be around mid April but again this is dependent on supply and how the HSE allocate the vaccine to various practices. The date of commencement is beyond our control at this stage.

We will be inviting those we believe are in the very high risk group first and then will work through the Category 7 group.

I would ask you to monitor the website for updates on this as we aim to open up an online booking system for those who are in category 7 to book in themselves. Further updates will follow on this.
